NAEP Data Training Workshop

The NAEP Data Training Workshop is designed for quantitative researchers with strong statistical skills who want to learn to conduct data analysis using NAEP data. NAEP data trainings are offered to advanced graduate students, educational researchers at universities or research organizations, analysts from state and local education agencies, and those interested in analyzing large-scale assessment data. These trainings introduce the unique design features of NAEP and provide guidance and practice in the data analysis strategies required when using NAEP data. NAEP data trainings provide participants with hands-on practice analyzing NAEP data files using the R program.

Doctoral Students Internship Program

The mission of the NAEP doctoral student internship program is to advance and encourage secondary analysis and methodological developments using data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). During this 10-week internship program, interns work directly with researchers from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and American Institutes for Research (AIR) on research in topic areas such as:

  • Psychometrics & Statistical Methods
  • Process Data
  • Policy-Relevant Research
  • Re-envisioning Quantitative Information (Data Visualization)
